No 46 of 💯: Sometimes you get exactly what you need at the end of a long day

Penny stretched and sighed before clearing the table and closing up. The last customer left without so much as a good night. She unfolded the bill and a few coins fell onto the table, it wasn’t much of a tip, but at least it was something.

The writing on the bill caught her eye. It was an address. Penny’s heart skipped a beat.

The next morning Penny set out to find the address. She waited patiently across the street, hidden by an old oak tree. It wasn’t long before a young couple came out, a small child snuggled sleepily in the woman’s arms.

Penny smiled and left for work. She could move on with her life now, knowing that she had given her daughter a better life.

Inspired by Zane Dickens 💯 Story Challenge. Let’s see how long I last. I’ll be self-publishing my stories rather than submitting them to publications.
